My heart goes out to you, my oldest and dearest friend. I here for you. From Colin McIntosh, my oldest childhood friend. I'd like to share with you a passage I included in my eulogy for my mom. It is a dialogue from a book of meditations written by Richard Wagamese, an indigenous author, Ojibwa, from the Wabaseemoong First Nation in northwestern Ontario. RICHARD: I miss my mother sometimes. Really bad. OLD WOMAN: Maybe try missing her really well. RICHARD: How do I do that? OLD WOMAN: See that sunrise? See how beautiful the colours are? How clear and clean the air feels? How good that feels inside you? RICHARD: Yes. It's wonderful. OLD WOMAN: She lives in that. So maybe just say, "Thanks, Mom" when you see and feel things like that. He ends with the following: "I miss my mother really well now." May you miss your father really well, Alex. I know I will.
